Single Crystal Electron Diffraction
Electron diffraction solves crystal structures similar to how X-ray crystallography works. As the name suggests, the uses an electron beam instead of X-ray radiation. The major difference consists in the size of the crystals: submicrometer sized crystals can and must be used for structure determination. This is smaller than the grains in very fine icing sugar.
